McIntosh Alumni Gymnasium Interior : The New Alumni Gym

Auburn High is to be the owner of one of the finest gymnasiums in the state. A fact significant in itself, but which means more than that to the student of A.H.S. for three years we have looked forward to the realization of this dream - now it is in view.

Through the efforts of Mr. E. O. Little, chairman of the Gymnasium committee, and the Committee itself, the Alumni were interested in this project; not only interested, but pledged themselves to secure $5,000 as a nucleus, around which to build the fund. Auburn High School, by means of a county wide drive to sell reserved seats for basketball games and secure additional pledges, added $4,500 to the fund. The American Legion Post has recently gone on record stating that it will secure an additional $5,000.

With such cooperation as this, the school board has found little difficulty in financing the new building. It will be ready for use by the opening of the next School Year.

"The Alumni Gymnasium will stand as a monument to the loyalty and generosity of the graduates of the Auburn Schools, and it is the sincere wish of the officers of the Alumni Association and the Gym Committee that its use will be dedicated to such activities that no graduate will ever have cause to regret anything contributed to its erection. - ED. O. LITTLE.

McIntosh Exterior : Summary of Views

On a sunny spring day when leaves are dressing trees and shrubs in cloaks of green, Auburn High School presents a lovely scene. The red brick building is in contrast with the green of the well kept lawn. There is nothing fancy or gaudy about the architecture but it is impressive in its simple majesty. Windows three rows high are evidence that inside rooms are well lighted. Doors in front, back and on each side would tell many strange tales if they could speak.

East of the high school is the building which supplies the heat. it is constructed of the same material as the high school building and adds proportion to the campus. north of this building is a larger structure dear to the heats of Auburnites. This is the Alumni Gymnasium where Auburn teams meet defeat of victory once or twice each week during the winter basketball season.

The McIntosh building is inclosed by a continuous sidewalk where, on nice days dozens of roller skaters make their rounds.

The library, although not in sight of the campus is in students minds closely related to the high school. it is likewise, made of brick and wears a cap of green tile. in front there is a lawn filled with shrubbery and trees and behind there is a lovely little park in the center of which is a large fountain surrounded by trees and shrubs among which gravel paths wind their ways.

Just a few hints are sufficient to recall the campus scenes of McIntosh High School. To the alumni to whom eash window, door, path, or step may hold a memory, no other place in Auburn will stand out more vividly than these scenes of high school days.
